INNR and ITHS celebrate Nutrition Week 2026

The Institute of Nutrigenetics & Nutrigenomics Research (INNR) joined the Institute of Translational Health Science (ITHS) for Nutrition Matters 2026, a one-day event marking National Nutrition Week, held on 7 September 2026 at the ITHS campus in Mohali. Around 50 students attended.
The theme was “Nutrition, Genes and Health: From Traditional Wisdom to Modern Science”. For INNR this is not a festival theme but the daily work of the institute: the food rules families have passed down for generations, and what genetics can now say about which of them hold, for whom, and why.
The lecture
Dietitian Navdeep Kaur, Founder of Diet Enlight Clinic, gave the expert lecture. She covered healthy dietary practices and the place of nutrition in preventive healthcare, then took questions from students in an interactive Q&A.
The competitions

Two competitions ran alongside the lecture. In the healthy food preparation competition, students cooked nutritious dishes and presented them to a faculty panel with the reasoning behind each choice. In the poster making competition, they turned nutrition concepts into visual presentations. Prizes and certificates went to the winners in both.
INNR and ITHS
INNR is the research and academic partner behind the Nutrigenetics and Personalised Nutrition programmes offered by ITHS. Students in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes study how genetic differences shape each person’s response to food, and how that knowledge translates into personalised diets. Nutrition Week is one of the days in the year when that teaching is put in front of a wider student audience.
Nutrition matters. Every choice matters. Every day matters.
